Welcome to the Middletown United Labor Agency Office. We have been a presence in Middletown for over 30 years and are currently located at 272 South Main St (Route 17). Our office enjoys plenty of convenient parking for your visit with us so just come in through the back door. Remember to sign in either under ULA or our partner American Job Center courtesy of Workforce Alliance.

We operate between 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday and offer a multitude of employment assistance services.

It is our pleasure to assist with and teach skills around:

  • resumes
  • cover letters
  • interviewing
  • job searching
  • online applications
  • one on one career counseling

We provide resources such as:

  • computer lab with unlimited access
  • continuously updated job board
  • phone and message services
  • referrals to other community providers and assistance programs

In addition to helping with employment services we offer assistance with:

  • unemployment filing
  • workers compensation filing
  • basic needs referrals
  • vocational rehab services

All of our services are free thanks to our funding partners such as Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Middlesex United Way, many Connecticut Unions, and private donations. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions of our staff whom are always ready to assist you with your employment and basic needs.

Greg Vavrek, who manages our Middletown office and leads our DMHAS grant, comes to us with 8 years of non-profit experience in mental health. He strives to help others achieve their potential whether it is through employment or career counseling.

David MitchellCommunity Services Coordinator
David Mitchell is a senior employee (in more ways than one) of ULA, having worked here since 2003.

A graduate of both the University of Connecticut and Manchester Community College (in that order) he worked for the State of Connecticut as a Management Analyst for thirty three years before being laid off along with 3000 other state employees in January of 2003. His service to the people of Connecticut was as a Management Analyst in the Departments of Labor, Environmental Protection and the Office of Policy and Management. Read More

Patti Buchanan-NorcrossProgram Assistant
Patti has been with the United Labor Agency since 1988 as a Program Assistant. She currently works in the Middletown office, where she does record keeping, client intakes, and data entry. She assists in this way for all Middletown clients, under the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and the Middlesex United Way grants. Read More
