Community Services Coordinator
Lourdes Gonzalez has been a Waterbury resident all her life and her educational endeavors are as follows: Bachelor of Science in Marketing, an Associate in Human Services-Pre Social Work, General Studies, and a certificate in Child and Family Services. I am bilingual (English/Spanish) and have numerous financial certifications as well such as AAPA, AIRC, and ACS. Previous to coming to United Labor Agency, Lourdes worked at St Vincent DePaul Homeless Center as a case manager on their preventative homeless program designed specifically towards housing, employment or disability issues.
Initially, Lourdes came to work with the John J. Driscoll United Labor Agency as a per diem Spanish interpreter in the Hartford office. As time went on, she became a full time Community Services Coordinator. Lourdes is responsible for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program which assists low income seniors and she does all the Spanish interpretation for our agency and helps facilitate the introductory computer classes. Through our agency, Lourdes also does job coaching for the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) and helps evaluate whether a consumer is ready to get back into the work force. When Lourdes is not assisting clients with their resumes, cover letters or job searches to help them get employment; she is also working with them to get citizenship and help with immigration issues or get turkeys for Thanksgiving or toys for the holidays.
