On October 20th, 2018 several Girl Scout Troops arrived at Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 777 training hall in Meriden to experience the skills needed for the building trades. Instructors and apprentices from the each trade school (sheet metal workers, electricians, painters, operating engineers, plumbing and pipefitters, and carpenters) assisted the eager girls in hands-on learning of welding, surveying, crane operating, woodworking with the building of toolboxes, metal working with creating metal roses, painting, electrical with wiring a light circuit, and pipefitting.
A big Thank You to Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 777 for hosting the event! And big thank you to SMART Local 40, Carpenters Local 24, IBEW Local 90, IUPAT DC11, and IUOE Local 478.
And of course a Big Thank You to Connecticut Girls Scouts and all the girls, without your participation this fantastic day of learning and fun would not have been possible!
Looking forward to next year and the making of this an annual event!
