Emergency Food Pantry: There are days designated each month for the first 30 households, within the community, to receive up to 50 lbs. of food such as:
These products are usually donated so our boxes of food are based upon availability of products.
Visits are limited to 6 per calendar year per household.
In order to receive food, clients must provide proof of identification and proof of income; fill out a ULA application along with a TEFAP form prior to their first visit. (Please call our office to schedule a time to come in to speak with staff about what your needs are and how the agency can possibly meet those needs.)
Emergency packings are conducted for strikers, union households and workers only; must be approved by Coordinator along with scheduling a pick-up of food.
United Labor Agency does not deliver food, or other services, to private residencies for safety and insurance purposes.
Food Pantry Special Events:
Walk Against Hunger
Every May ULA participates in Foodshare’s Walk Against Hunger. We actively seek out financial donations every spring. Depending upon how much money is raised to assist Foodshare in combating hunger, within Connecticut, will determine the percent of money that is granted towards ULA’s food pantry account. Our food pantry budget heavily relies on this particular event.
ULA distributes turkeys and Thanksgiving “fixings” prior to Thanksgiving every year to those who have filled out a request form. Please note, this program is conducted in partnership with Foodshare, but terms, conditions and schedules are determined by Foodshare and are based upon products available. Foodshare does have county restrictions. If you reside outside of Hartford and Tolland county please contact a Coordinator to arrange other avenues to acquire assistance during the Thanksgiving holiday; other options are available.
Donations are always welcome around this time whether it be financial, turkeys, other holiday related food, gift cards or volunteering to assist with distributing holiday meals.
